Description:

Randstad is currently recruiting for an Engineering Design Manager for our clients located in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. This role will give you the opportunity to join an industry leader in tank manufacturing.
If you are experienced with leading a team and passionate about Design, we want to hear from you! This position will give you the opportunity to lead and develop a team of 6 whilst also being able to be creative with innovative solutions. Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Operations Manager you will have the right tools to succeed whilst also having the opportunity to lead YOUR team.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Management experience previously is essential
  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Some form of Technical Design Degree
  • SolidWorks experience is essential
  • 5+ years in Heavy Manufacturing (Automotive/ Road/ Transport)- Ideally in the tanker manufacturing industry.
  • Dangerous Goods transport manufacturer experience, including pumping systems at a high level of design
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Have an open mind and growth mindset
  • Comfortable with client interactions and internal collaboration

Responsibilities:

  • Design and creation of Innovative solutions to suit customer requirements
  • Ensuring product is built according to specification and ensuring production team are clear on design requirements
  • Required to be the point of contact for technical concerns
  • Communicate with customers during the design phase
  • Motivating staff and ensuring the highest level of work and production within the team environment
  • Responsible for the performance management of team members and hiring of new team members when required and approved.
  • Assisting in the development of the team
  • Responsible for creating KPI’s and reporting on achievements in line with the company’s goals
  • Ensuring designs take into account budgeted hours/materials for builds and carrying out cost breakdowns
  • Ensuring the health & safety of direct reports and the team
  • Managing a team of 6 direct reports, including Design Engineers, Draftsman & Senior Engineers
