Responsibilities
The Engineering/DevOps Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the Engineering and DevOps teams to ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of high-quality software products. This is a leadership role within our product organization, working closely with the Chief Product Officer (CPO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Solutions Architect to ensure that both the product and technical vision are fulfilled by the teams’ work. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to optimize development and operations processes. The Engineering/DevOps Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain DevOps practices, automate workflows, and drive continuous improvement.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps and engineering professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Provide guidance on technical challenges and career development.

DevOps Strategy and Implementation:

  • Develop and execute a DevOps strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to streamline processes.

Automation and Infrastructure:

  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
  • Drive automation of repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
  • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for scalability and cost-effectiveness.

Release Management:

  • Coordinate and manage software releases and deployments.
  • Implement and improve release processes to ensure smooth and error-free releases.
  • Work closely with QA teams to ensure testing processes are integrated into the release cycle.

Monitoring and Incident Response:

  • Implement and maintain monitoring tools for proactive issue detection.
  • Develop and execute incident response plans to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with support teams to address customer-reported issues.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster collaboration between development, operations, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and key metrics.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing and cross-training within the team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a DevOps or engineering leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience operating sophisticated applications in AWS.
  • Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., AWS CloudFormation) and version control systems (e.g., Git, AWS CodeCommit).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
  • Knowledge of security best practices is also a plus.

Travel
The Engineering/DevOps Manager may need to travel for specific and well-defined business purposes.
