We are seeking an accomplished and experienced Journeyman Field Service Technician to join our organization in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. As a Journeyman Field Service Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness of security, identity and tracking systems, as well as, the readiness of users to operate those systems. An ideal candidate will possess knowledge of hardware and software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting and have experience working in the DoD environment as an individual technician and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Hardware:
  • Installation of computer hardware, telecommunications components, and hardware and cabling.
  • Modification and repairs to systems.
  • Provide technical assistance.
  • Inspects equipment and prepares equipment for delivery.
  • Performs minor system hardware diagnostics and advises on system support software problems.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing bad components.
  • Software:
  • Load specific software packages, such as operating systems, hardware drivers and custom application software on computers.
  • Replace defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Perform software upgrades.
  • Training
  • Train new and subordinate personnel to perform their duties
  • Performs on site user training.
  • Instructs user in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
  • Answer user questions in person and via telephone concerning systems operation.
  • Other Actions
  • Perform RF surveys of sites where required.
  • Coordinates with communication engineers to obtain required connectivity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s (or equivalent) with 1 - 2 years of experience in hardware installation roles, with a focus on DoD environments.
  • Certifications:
  • Minimum IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M (Security+ CE certification or higher) required.
  • Security Clearance:
  • The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to access sensitive information, which requires US citizenship.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with T5 background check is required.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of hardware and cable installation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess impact and implement appropriate resolutions.
  • Experience with installation and support of Windows operating systems with 3 years specialization.
  • Experience with Windows 10.
  • Familiarity with DoD safety regulations.
  • Communication:
  • Must have experience providing user assistance with hardware and system support software problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis is required.
  • Travel:
  • This position will require travel approximately 75% of the time to various locations in the region.
  • A valid driver’s license and passport is required for this position.
  • In accordance with our travel reimbursement policy, employees must pay for travel expenses in advance which will be timely reimbursed. Rental vehicles must be reserved with a credit card bearing the renter’s name.
