Emcara International, a division of KSR International Inc. has an immediate opening for an Engineering Lab Technician in our Guelph Location. The Engineering Lab Tech plays a crucial role in supporting engineering research and development efforts by providing technical assistance, conducting experiments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory activities.

Qualifications

  • Degree – Mechanical or Electronic Engineering Technician/Technologist
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in an engineering or technical capacity.

Language

  • English required

Skills

  • Programming Capabilities – C++, Dasylab or Labview. Database programming an advantage
  • Basic proficiency in Excel, Word
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow experimental procedures accurately
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and instruments, as well as computer software for data analysis
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to ethical standards in scientific research
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates alignment with KSR’s Mission, Vision & Values

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform various experiments and tests as directed by engineers or researchers. This may involve setting up equipment, running tests, collecting data, and documenting results.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory and production test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance tasks to keep instruments in optimal working condition.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. This includes proper handling of hazardous materials, wearing appropriate protective gear, and following safety guidelines during experiments.
  • Build or improve simple production equipment.
  • Collect and record data accurately during experiments. Assist in data analysis by organizing and presenting findings clearly and concisely. Use software tools for data processing and analysis as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, observations, and results. Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations to communicate findings to project teams or stakeholders.
  • Ensure that experiments are conducted in accordance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Follow established protocols and procedures to maintain consistency and reliability in experimental outcomes.
  • Provide training and guidance to students, interns, or junior technicians who assist in laboratory activities. Share knowledge and expertise to facilitate skill development and promote a culture of continuous learning
