Description:

We’re Beauty Pie. We’re the world’s first luxury beauty and wellness buyers’ club. And we’re disrupting the beauty industry, one face cream at a time.
Before we arrived on the scene, if you wanted really great beauty products, you had to shop at traditional beauty retail - and overpay for all the crazy markups. Now, our members have access to shop from the best-quality beauty and wellness products (from the leading labs in France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Japan, Korea, etc) and get a bigger piece of the Beauty Pie.
Software Engineering Managers are instrumental to the success of our engineering teams. Part people leader, part technical problem-solver, to succeed, you’ll need to have a deep understanding of what motivates and inspires great software engineers, be able to navigate them through complicated technical challenges and work collaboratively with product managers to maximise the value we ship to our customers.
You’re self-motivated with a passion for both business and technology innovation and can clearly understand the user experience and apply this understanding to enhance the overall customer experience.
As an established engineer, you’ll have experience across a range of technologies, which should include some that feature in our stack: AWS Serverless, Node.js, TypeScript.
You should be confident leading engineering across multiple teams, solving complex problems, as well as providing technical coaching and oversight to other engineers.

Responsibilities:

SO WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • Line management of software engineers
  • Technical stewardship of one or more engineering teams.
  • Hire and develop great people.
  • Conduct regular 1-2-1s to ensure your direct reports are motivated, happy and engaged.
  • Provide engineering support and guidance to product managers and squad tech leads.
  • Maintain a supportive and engaging team culture focused on high performance.
  • Identify and remove obstacles from squads, allowing the engineers in it to perform.
  • Work with our senior leaders and principal engineers, to ensure your squads deliver the highest standards of technical design and implementation and ensure our platform is operationally excellent.
  • Be accountable for your engineers delivering sustainable value at pace, while managing the expectations of your stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the CTO to surface engineering insights that chart the team’s achievements and opportunities for continual improvement.

We believe it’s all about mindset, great skills, the right attitude and a fantastic work ethic. If you’re aligned to our values, excited about the opportunity, and you’re really good at what you do (even if you don’t tick all the boxes) apply anyway!

  • Experience leading teams of highly skilled software engineers to success.
  • Solid practical and theoretical knowledge of modern software development.
  • An excellent understanding of one or more of the key components in our stack.
  • Technologists who have proven leadership skills as a line manager to teams of highly skilled engineers.
  • Experience building and designing scalable and performant systems and making significant contributions to the wider engineering goals of the company
