We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager who will be responsible for managing a group of engineers and driving change to improve the capabilities of the Engineering department (and the wider IDBS audience).

What we’ll get you doing:

  • Help your team members deliver high quality software by mentoring them on best practices and patterns in software engineering. Knowledge of Java and web front end technologies such as React would be an advantage here.
  • Manage the growth and development of your engineers using tools such as performance reviews, 1-2-1 meetings, objectives & training plans
  • Delivering key cross functional initiatives, supported by the Engineering Director, to improve quality & productivity. For example: championing best practices, researching new tools, improving communications
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation – there are always opportunities for improvement and you’ll help to make them happen. Encourage collaboration and communication, not just within engineering, but also across other departments
  • Cultivating a quality mindset within the organization by ensuring company policies are followed, but also identifying improvements to those policies to reduce friction and instilling a shift-left approach to all steps in the SDLC

Responsibilities:

  • Proven management and leadership skills used to build an engaged engineering teams that deliver high quality software
  • A passion for people management with the ability to actively listen so as to better support them, enabling them to grow their skillsets. We encourage diversity of thought and a psychologically safe environment for everyone.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex/technical information and data for a range of audiences (both verbally and written)
  • Experience in software engineering and agile practices, including SaaS software and continuous delivery
