Description:

Marshall Canada requires an Engineering Manager in Ottawa, ON to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for leading an integrated and multi-disciplined engineering team in scoping, designing, delivering, and maintaining key products and programs of Marshall Land Systems within Canada.

Your responsibilities in this role:

  • Lead engineering for major projects ensuring delivery against project time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Approve technical deliverables and the internal verification of requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with other functions, such as program management, to ensure the success of the project.
  • Produce and oversee the production of estimates for technical work packages, including review and approval of technical budgets and plans.
  • Ensure the multi-disciplined technical team has the required support to work together effectively and achieve the overall objectives of the project.
  • Be the technical point of contact with the customer and other stakeholders for major projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure that the technical requirements and their verification are effectively planned, managed and accepted.
  • Create and guide others in the creations of cost-effective and innovative solutions to technical challenges.
  • Define and communicate the technical team’s priorities, in line with the wider objectives of the project.
  • Ensure that technical risks and opportunities are effectively planned, managed and actioned.
  • Provide technical expertise in the applicable standards, regulations and legislation that may apply to projects in North American.
  • Maintain and implement technical KPI’s into the program and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide line management and mentorship to the technical team as required, including performance management and capability development.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Engineering Manager Land Systems.

Apply if you have most of the following:

  • Hold an engineering degree in an applicable discipline (mechanical, electrical, etc.) and have the ability to be registered as a PEng.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience within a disciplined design or in-service support industry (e.g. Aerospace, Nuclear, Marine, etc.).
  • Experience in the defence sector is considered an asset.
  • Experience within the land vehicle industry considered an asset.
  • An awareness of a wide range of engineering disciplines, how they operate and their general practices.
  • Understanding of Configuration Management principals and their application.
  • Demonstrated record of strong management and leadership capability.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and financial management skills.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Excellent understanding of requirements management, change and verification.
  • Good IT skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of CAD and PLM tools, their function and general operation.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Proven experience of supporting team members to deliver and develop through coaching and guidance.
  • Experience developing technical process and applying them to the delivery of projects.
  • Demonstrable experience managing individuals and influencing stakeholders throughout a business.

Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
