Part of our exciting business is the Surface Drilling Division, where our intelligent surface drill rigs bring the latest technology to surface mining and construction applications – we’d like to call it true power with absolute precision!
Our Control System team creates and develops onboard control system solutions for our drill fleet. The team provides professional services in the areas of mobile working machine design & product development for Surface Drilling Division. The team is involved both in new product development projects and lifecycle maintenance of current products.
We are strengthening and developing our Drill Rig Control System team and therefore looking for a proactive and future oriented Engineering Manager for Software Testing for a full-time and permanent position. Position is hybrid but due to major part of work is completed at Sandvik office, you are based in Tampere/Myllypuro, Finland.
About your role
As an Engineering Manager for Software Testing, you will be responsible for managing a team of engineers reporting to you. You and your team have key role to ensure quality of our software releases used by our customers. In this role you plan and lead software testing activities in projects and during software lifecycle maintenance. You also have active role maintaining and developing software testing tools, processes, and methods. To be successful in position you co-operate fluently with other engineering teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage software testing team.
  • Plan and supervise team’s daily activities.
  • Planning and executing team and competence development activities.
  • Setting team and individual targets according company targets.
  • Work tightly together with internal stakeholders and project teams to ensure timely executed software testing activities in multi-project environment.
  • Co-operate with other testing teams in Sandvik and with software testing tools suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain software testing tools, processes and used work methods for Surface Drills Division.
  • Maintain and further develop HIL (Hardware in Loop)-simulators environments.

About you and what we find important
We expect you to have solid experience in the following areas: embedded systems, product software development, team and software quality management. You are comfortable using application lifecycle management tools (such as Polarion) as part of daily software testing activities as well as test automation tools (Robot Framework or similar) and continuous integration (Jenkins or similar). You have a wide understanding of integrated software control systems, or you have a genuine interest to accommodate the skills and competences fast. Experience with software development and testing processes in mobile working machines and HIL-simulators is a must have. As a leader you have experience managing team in R&D/Engineering for Software development or testing. Proven capabilities of coaching team members and good communication skills are key to success in this role. As a person you are a self-directed team player with good co-operation, communication, negotiation, and language skills (both in Finnish and in English).
