PepsiCo is on the look-out for a Engineering Programme Manager (Global Strategic Capital) to join our global engineering function based in Cork.

The Technical Function is our team of enabling experts offering knowledge and partnership to functions on specialist subjects including engineering, quality and productivity. Reporting to the Asia Global Strategic Engineering Manager, this is a central role based in Asia. The key focus will be the delivery of the global strategic capital plan for India, Pakistan, Singapore and China to support the capacity, BCP (Business Continuity Plan) and infrastructure for the concentrate business in those regions. Key challenges will be balancing resources, capital and operating priorities with a complex business global model and variable business dynamics arising from broad and varying demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of the Strategic Capital Programs required to deliver the Asia key business critical initiatives including increasing capacity requirements, infrastructure, and business continuity planning (BCP) for the PCGS business.
  • Lead and manage > 18 direct/indirect contract engineers to ensure the delivery of the Capital program.
  • Responsible for delivering the engineering and procurement standards, including technical and commercial aspects, supplier relationships and performance managements of the key capital programs in the Asia region.
  • Responsible for identifying and resourcing the capabilities needed to deliver technically complex solutions.
  • Responsible for the safe execution, the budget, and the schedule of the capital program
  • Support the development and lead the execution of site infrastructure requirements to deliver the transform to perform agenda in all key areas including safety, quality, and an asset replacement strategy.
  • Identify and develop strategic supplier relationships to support effective management of the PGCS global and local capital requirements. Work with Corporate & local legal resources, in conjunction with PGCS engineers, to ensure that the necessary procedures, contractual documentation, contacts & relationships are in place.
  • Implement project management best practice including PM procedures, EHS management, validation, risk management, tracking & performance metrics required to deliver the capital programs.
  • Develop and leverage best practices from PepsiCo divisions as well as from other industries to deliver world class performance in plant and equipment design, project implementation and construction management.
  • Develop sustainable engineering practices and programmes ensuring sustainability in plant design and operation.
  • Lead the interface and communication with the Sites to ensure seamless handover of projects to plant operations.
  • Support the development of an ‘Asia’ organization structure, building technical capability, provide career progression opportunities and build the overall technical bench in Asia both in the central organization and on the sites.
  • Provide technical leadership as required to both project and site teams. This role requires significant technical competency and the ability to influence key stakeholders to drive change and the ability to manage teams of contractors and staff to deliver capital projects to a high standard within committed budget and schedule.
  • Be a change management advocate.
  • The role will require travel to the four PGCS Asia plants on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years process industry experience in engineering with additional operations or maintenance exposure and extensive capital project management experience
  • Degree qualification in Chemical, Process, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in leading large multi-cultural engineering teams.
  • Highly developed influencing skills required to manage various stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in delivering large capital projects in a global and diverse environment.
  • Multilingual (Additional language, Mandarin or Hindi a necessity)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proven ability to work at all levels in an international organization.
  • Strategic leadership mind-set capability a requirement (need to build the business case and present at the highest levels in PepsiCo).
