STV currently has openings in our New York for a fulltime entry level Designer in our Transportation & Infrastructure division. You will support our current clients and work that includes highway and transportation design projects. Under the direction of an experienced engineer, you will work on a variety of projects in the planning, design and construction phases. You will have the opportunity for field and office work.
STV currently has openings in our New York office for a fulltime entry level Designer in our Transportation division. This position will support our current clients and workload that includes highway and transportation design projects. Working under the direction of an experienced engineer you will work on a variety of projects in the planning, design and construction phases of transportation projects. This position offers you the opportunity to gain experience in the field as well as in the office.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Utilize MicroStation and AutoCAD to design alignments, drainage systems, grading, and producing technical deliverables for highway and transportation engineering projects
- Participate in variety of projects including planning, design and construction
- Perform field work, CAD and design requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Creating construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Participate and support client meetings
- Assist in developing technical design reports, calculations, and memos
- Periodically perform field inspections
- Perform research in support of developing design solutions
- Candidate will specialize in the planning and engineering design of transportation projects for public/governmental agencies.
Responsible for devising new approaches to problems and preparing drawings, specifications, calculations and monitoring work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and agency guidelines.
Required Skills:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required with emphasis in structural, highway, geotechnical, traffic, hydrology, hydraulics and/or drainage design.
- Co-op/Internship experience preferred.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals Exam (EIT Certification) is preferred
Compensation Range:
$66,828.00 - $89,104.00
