Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Software Development Team Leader to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading, motivating, and mentoring a team of talented developers as they build high-quality software solutions. You will play a key delivery role, establishing technical direction, and ensuring releases are delivered on time with the highest quality, minimising defects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of software developers:
- Set clear expectations and goals for the team.
- Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the development process
- Lead scrum ceremonies and support retrospective meetings
- Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for development.
- Technical leadership:
- Stay up-to-date on the latest software development trends and technologies within our domain.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Identify areas where continuous improvement will benefit the product and delivery processes.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and find solutions
- Agile / Scrum / Project management:
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements.
- Create and manage workload, plans and schedules
- Track progress, identify and mitigate risks.
- Communicate status to stakeholders effectively.
Problem-solving and decision-making:
- Analyse complex problems and identify solutions.
- Make sound decisions based on technical expertise and business needs.
- Be adaptable and able to pivot when needed.
- Communication and collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation, both technical and non-technical.
- Collaborate with other teams, such as product, design, customer success, UAT.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
EXPERIENCE & RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful applicants will possess a combination of these skills and experiences and be able to provide examples of these in action.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
- 2+ years of experience in a team leadership role within a software development team.
- Experience of working cloud solutions, Azure, Google, AWS, Oracle.
- Strong technical skills in Java.
- Experience in Data Lake/Lakehouse Technologies, Hadoop, Hive, Snowflake, Databricks.
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Excellent Scrum skills - certified or experience.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
