Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Software Development Team Leader to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading, motivating, and mentoring a team of talented developers as they build high-quality software solutions. You will play a key delivery role, establishing technical direction, and ensuring releases are delivered on time with the highest quality, minimising defects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of software developers:
  • Set clear expectations and goals for the team.
  • Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the development process
  • Lead scrum ceremonies and support retrospective meetings
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for development.
  • Technical leadership:
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest software development trends and technologies within our domain.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
  • Identify areas where continuous improvement will benefit the product and delivery processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and find solutions
  • Agile / Scrum / Project management:
  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements.
  • Create and manage workload, plans and schedules
  • Track progress, identify and mitigate risks.
  • Communicate status to stakeholders effectively.

Problem-solving and decision-making:

  • Analyse complex problems and identify solutions.
  • Make sound decisions based on technical expertise and business needs.
  • Be adaptable and able to pivot when needed.
  • Communication and collaboration:
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation, both technical and non-technical.
  • Collaborate with other teams, such as product, design, customer success, UAT.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE & RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful applicants will possess a combination of these skills and experiences and be able to provide examples of these in action.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
  • 2+ years of experience in a team leadership role within a software development team.
  • Experience of working cloud solutions, Azure, Google, AWS, Oracle.
  • Strong technical skills in Java.
  • Experience in Data Lake/Lakehouse Technologies, Hadoop, Hive, Snowflake, Databricks.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent Scrum skills - certified or experience.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
