Job Description
We are seeking a “hands-on” maker to be a member of the technical staff of an applied R&D lab, to provide support to researchers with the design, construction, and maintenance of experimental rigs, demonstrations, and exhibits. Oversees the day-to-day needs of the lab including inventory, maintenance, and 5S. Serves as the single point of contact for equipment and materials specification/procurement. This position will call on a wide-range of making and interpersonal skills including coordination with other Rockwell laboratories to deliver design/fab/lab management support to the advanced technology research staff. Successful candidate would work alone or on formal/informal teams and may supervise interns.
This lab is a part of Advanced Technology organization, which is the corporate-level research lab tasked with a) identifying, b) assessing, c) developing, and d) transitioning advanced industrial automation and information technologies to support and influence future strategic business objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Robotics Engineering/Engineering Technology, or Physics OR Experience working with Rockwell Automation industrial control systems
  • Must demonstrate a strong bias toward safety.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the following areas:
  • CAD and engineering design
  • Lab Management and 5S
  • Machine tool safety and/or lab safety techniques
  • Electrical system construction.
  • Deep experience and comfortable with fabrication techniques including the use of various hand and power tools.
  • Strong collaboration and teaching skills.
  • Excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills and an aptitude for solving complex problems.
  • Legal authorization to work within the Prague, Czech Republic
  • Proficient in written and spoken English

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the design, fabrication, and construction of printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Soldering surface mount electronics.
  • Experience working with Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation brand equipment.
  • Proficient in a programming language such as Python and code management techniques via git.
  • Experience in a model shop or support to R&D activities.
  • Experience teaching new hires on using the lab equipment.
