ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN – SPECIALIST SYSTEMS

Are you our next Engineering Technician for our specialist systems? We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what’s possible for are Engineering team. You will work a shift pattern across all days of the week including bank & public holidays.

The Engineering team deliver what matters. They protect, maintain, and repair our infrastructure. From the electricity that powers this place. Giant plant rooms that heat and cool the airport. To the specialist equipment on the airfield too!

Responsibilities:

WHAT IS THE ROLE?

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a technician to join our business and be part of a new and exciting era at Gatwick Airport.
The Specialist Systems Technician is responsible for conducting planned and reactionary, maintenance and intervention tasks on all plant and equipment. Ensuring duties are undertaken to the highest of standards, with an eye on continuous improvement, maximising operational uptime.
This role is critical in supporting a diverse range of assets and complex systems, with key assets including walk through metal detectors, cabin baggage X-Ray machines, Liquid explosive detection systems, Flight Information Display Screen systems, CCTV, CEM door control readers, body scanners, tray return systems, Standby / Back-up Power Generators, Pumping Stations and associated water infrastructure, trash rakes, barriers, street lighting, water quality analysers, water treatment plant, and the associated infrastructure serving our ponds, lagoons and waterways.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Undertake planned preventative/corrective maintenance, mindful of asset performance and operational requirements.
  • Ensure all engineering and operational records are updated to meet business, regulatory and manufacturer requirements.
  • Pro-actively undertake and support performance improvement activities/programmes.
  • Take responsibility for safety, including others as part of a legal responsibility such as the wearing of PPE, completing mandatory training and the reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses.
  • Using GAL IT systems (Ultimo, MyHub, P2W, Microsoft Office) as required.
  • Developing skills and knowledge to maintain and operate existing and new assets to ensure they are maintained in a manner which keeps them performing at a required level
  • Undertake role specific training required for the role
  • Working in passenger facing areas, as well as back of house areas (check in zones, baggage halls, comms rooms, security etc.) across the airport campus.
  • Working collaboratively. This role has no direct reports.
