KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education completed in Engineering & Technology Program, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience performing manual and computerized mathematical calculations used in technical and engineering analyses.
  • Experience with analysis & interpretation of engineering design and drawings, specification, reports etc.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class “G” Driver’s License, and a City’s Driver’s permit and have access to a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and reviews documents such as reports, applications and estimates, coordinates requirements, reviews designs, specifications and other technical documentation.
  • Prepares/reviews procurement documents and administers contracts to ensure they are carried out in accordance with City and other relevant standards, bylaws, specifications and procedures.
  • Maintains, updates, retrieves/analyzes/summarizes or performs qualitative review of data from various data systems using various tools, technologies and equipment.
  • Performs or coordinates programming, operations and maintenance of a variety of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment, programs/systems.
  • Performs and/or reviews research and calculations and analyzes technical data.
  • Conducts and or reviews surveys, investigations, tests and studies for a variety of proposals, programs, applications and projects pertaining to the City’s facilities and infrastructure.
  • Conducts field investigations, assessments, and evaluations of asset conditions for a variety of proposals, programs, and projects pertaining to water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
  • Searches, evaluates and analyzes existing records, notes and plans.
  • Performs, checks and/or interprets technical drawings and/or mapping data, reviews technical documents, identifies any issues, and makes comments and recommendations.
  • Assists with the preparation of budget and tracking of expenditures/revenues.
  • Instructs and provides ad hoc leadership to ETT2s/ ETT3s/ ETT4s/ trainees/ other staff/contractors on projects or program delivery.
  • Prepares instructions, policies, procedures, templates, Standard Operation Procedures, and documentation, and conducts training /orientations/ demonstrations.
  • Coordinates with, liaises with, and responds to inquiries from various internal and external stakeholders to resolve problems and ensure adherence to approved designs, procedures, safety and other regulations, statutes, specifications pertaining to water, wastewater, stormwater infrastructure and/or Toronto Water unit programs.
  • Develops, maintains and monitors unit programs and/or systems.
  • Prepares drafts of documents, contracts, specifications and agreements for the Engineers or Supervisor.
  • Provides operational and technical support relating to the planning, design, tendering, construction and inspection of municipal infrastructure.
