Reporting to and under the direction of the Program Manager (Development), the Engineering Technologist is responsible for:

  • reviewing and commenting upon the engineering and planning aspects of site plans, zoning amendment, Official Plan amendment, land division, site alterations, condominium plans, draft plans and minor variance applications;
  • providing services and communicating with external and internal clients on development applications;
  • tracking and reporting statistics associated with development applications and engineering submissions;
  • preparing correspondence, reports and development agreements;
  • advising on the revision or creation of policies and standards specific to Development Engineering;
  • providing input on Town’s planning and engineering studies and by-laws;
  • responding to telephone and counter inquires; and,
  • performing other miscellaneous development related duties as may be assigned, including, assisting with the preparation of Memos and Reports to Council.

Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with your experience enables you to skilfully build, establish and maintain positive working relationships. You demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with a broad range of partners.
You bring to the team your strong reasoning, analytical, numerical, research and presentation skills. You solve problems by identifying, gathering and processing relevant information.
You are also excellent at prioritization and time management, and can work under pressure to meet deadlines. You have an uncanny ability to see the forest for the trees - you love to research and analyze complex issues and formulate data-driven recommendations.
What You Bring To Our Team

As the successful applicant, you will possess:

  • a minimum two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering (at a Technologist or Technician level) or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the municipal field, specifically relating to land development services;
  • completion of various approved courses of the MTO and MECP;
  • registration with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT);
  • a thorough knowledge and understanding of municipal design criteria and engineering requirements, surveys, computers, and Ministry processing; and,
  • a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of storm water management (SWM).

  • Salary: $36.33 - $45.41 per hour (Band C)
