Description:
ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR
Status: Temporary (18 months), Part time – 30 hrs/wk
Start date: Immediate
End date: September 30, 2025
WHAT IT TAKES
The project team consists of two team members, the English Language Instructor and an Employment Placement Specialist who is responsible for facilitating placement of students into Edmonton’s labour market. Given the small size of the program team, collaborative work and mutual support are paramount to program success.
Being energetic, passionate, and an imaginative outside-the-box thinker who ignites a passion for learning English and job searching techniques in our students will contribute to the success of the students in this program.
We are looking for someone with a Bachelor of Education or Arts and a TESL or ATESL Certification (Interim or Permanent). Experience in an adult ESL educational setting and creating and delivering lessons tailored for newcomers in accordance with the Canadian Language Benchmarks is an asset.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and providing cutting-edge English language curriculum and teaching to adult newcomers, ensuring high quality and innovation in delivery
- Preparing modules, lesson plans, and daily activities consistent with the goals of the program and the needs of the learners
- Enhancing student learning techniques and real-world competencies, moving students from a CLBA 3 to a CLBA 4 in preparation for employment opportunities
- Assisting in overseeing and evaluating activities in accordance with the stipulations of the grant
