- Lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality English language programs for asylum seekers

Minimum commitment: 6 months
Days and hours required per week: 5 hours a week. Days negotiable.
Location: Majority of hours can be completed remotely online with some face to face engagement with volunteer teachers required at Newtown.
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role is Second In Charge (2IC) to the Team Leader English Language Program and provides coverage as needed of the following Team Leader tasks:
- Implement English Program Intake, Language Assessment and Class Allocation processes
- Refer prospective students to approved external service providers as required
- Build a collegial relationship with a team of volunteer, qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers and support them with additional ESL resources, information, and troubleshooting
- Support Line Manager to facilitate regular meetings with the teaching team
- Collaborate with Line Manager to collect and record student and facilitator feedback for the purposes of continuously improving the English program, including an annual survey
- Contribute to English Service Map by adding information about new or changing English service providers that might be of benefit to people seeking asylum.
- Escalate internal referrals to Line Manager when students require support beyond their language needs
- Meet regularly with Line Manager providing quality, timely updates
- Promptly raise any concerns pertaining to client or teacher welfare with Line Manager
- Other as reasonably requested by Line Manager.
