EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Proven experience in aligning IT strategy with business goals.
  • Strong understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, and IT deployment models.
  • Strong understanding of business processes, strategic planning, and organizational structure.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A demonstrated willingness and ability to continuously learn and stay updated with the latest industry trends.
  • TOGAF 9.2/10 certification (desirable, but not mandatory)
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to the utility industry an asset
  • PMP certification an asset

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise architecture, business solutions, or IT governance type role, demonstrating a progression of increased responsibility and complexity in projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading large-scale IT projects from conception through implementation.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with various stakeholders including IT professionals, senior management, and external partners.
  • Experience in analyzing, designing, and optimizing business processes through technology solutions.
  • Proven ability in leading change management initiatives and driving digital transformation.
  • Strong communication skills demonstrated through effective engagement with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in presenting complex technical information to non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Utility industry experience an asset

Responsibilities:

The Enterprise Architect, operating under the guidance of the Head of Data & Enterprise Architecture, is crucial in aligning IT strategies with both immediate project goals and long-term business objectives. This role involves advancing the enterprise architecture practice, providing analytical and consultative support for technology decisions and implementations, while consistently ensuring adherence to established standards and principles. Responsible for steering technological advancements and integrating emerging technologies, the Enterprise Architect plays a vital role in fostering collaboration across teams. Balancing technical solutions with business strategy, this role engages actively with stakeholders to ensure technology initiatives are in sync with evolving business needs and in compliance with architectural standards.

  • Supports the EA value proposition, contributing to positioning the EA practice as an internal management consultancy, offering services and skills to support the development and execution of business strategy.
  • Continues to develop and enhance a portfolio of consulting services (EA Service Catalog), designed to meet business and stakeholder needs, and delivers in an agile and time-boxed way.
  • Utilizing the business capability model, determines the relationship between people, processes, information, technology and other components of the enterprise operating model, and their relationships to one another and to the external environment.
  • Provides consultative advice, adapted to stakeholder context, to business leaders and organizational stakeholders who seek actionable recommendations regarding technology-related investment decisions.
  • Leads and facilitates interaction with business leaders, product managers and product owners in a business-driven conversation over the risks and implications of the product decision to the line of business, business unit, and greater enterprise.
  • Leads a collaborative community of architects and works with a strategic committee to guide transformation and resolve any conflicts to support technology delivery and enterprise business outcomes.
  • Positions the EA practice at the intersection of business and IT. Ensures that the EA practice is designed and enabled to formulate, translate, and support the execution of business strategy.
  • Works with domain and functional architects and business leaders to identify key drivers and targeted business outcomes to derive useful business context.
