Description:

Wolters Kluwer is looking for a hands-on Enterprise Software Engineer in our Architecture & Engineering Services (AES) Team to design, build, and integrate or next generation of enterprise cloud capabilities. Working within our Engineering team and collaborating with our customers, Cloud Operations, Security, Compliance, and other key stakeholders, the engineer will drive important projects in GBS.
The engineer will also design and implement scalable and secure cloud-native capabilities to support applications. The engineer will also lead and participate in code reviews to maintain high development standards and participate in strategic planning meetings to improve technical processes.
The Enterprise Software Engineer will have 3- 5 years of hands-on experience in a DevSecOps environment, with a foundational understanding of DevOps concepts, practices, and tools.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field masters Preferred
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps role or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
  • Knowledge of programming frameworks (.NET, JAVA etc.)
  • Some experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and practices.
  • Some experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and understanding of cloud services and architectures.
  • Experience successful project delivery in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies beyond Kubernetes, such as Docker Swarm or Apache Mesos.
  • Experience of network configurations, caching, and security practices in cloud environments

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, and deploy in the development and maintenance of our CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Develop, deploy and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform to provision and manage cloud resources.
  • Support cloud-based platform and infrastructure and services, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of monitoring and alerting tools to ensure proactive management of the environment.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to ongoing learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends and best practices in DevOps and cloud technologies.
  • Integrate security measures from the beginning of the development cycle through to deployment, often referred to as DevSecOps. This includes implementing automated security scanning of code, dependencies, and infrastructure to find and address vulnerabilities before production deployment.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure rapid recovery and continuity in the event of a failure. This involves regular testing of backup procedures and failover mechanisms to ensure they function correctly when needed.
  • Manage and improve containerized environments using orchestration tools like Kubernetes. This includes setting up Kubernetes clusters, managing container lifecycles, and ensuring containers are secure and using resources.
  • Improve tools and practices for effective communication and collaboration among team members and across different teams (e.g., development, operations, security). This could include the integration of chatbots for alerts, the use of collaboration platforms for project tracking, and real-time dashboards for monitoring system health and deployments.
  • Participate in the design and architecture of robust cloud solutions.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of cloud resources.
  • Facilitate the use of new cloud technologies and practices within the team.
  • Lead plans to reduce costs and improve efficiency through better cloud practices.
  • Document technical processes, configurations, and procedures for greater transparency and reproducibility.
