What YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

In this position, you will get to:

  • Responsible for research & development and design of new or existing products.
  • Applies professional engineering techniques to design and manufacture products at the lowest overall cost and enhance product value to the customer by either Project, Product or Value Engineering.
  • Provides engineering design and analysis within assigned project scope of work. This includes conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, specification development, and engineering drawings. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control for the engineering scope of work.
  • Develops resolution of problems of limited scope following standard procedures.
  • Using advanced software such as NavisWorks, Smart Plant, AutoCAD and our in-house programs TRACERLYNX and PROMAN to optimize our design process.
  • Performing various engineering and circuit design tasks within our innovative paperless workflow process.
  • Proactively establish customer relationships at appropriate levels and manage client expectations relative to technical execution methodologies, scope, schedule, progress, and technical change management. Impact to the work in own department and occasionally to other areas and functions.
  • Contributing toward the team environment and shared culture of nVent.
  • Basic knowledge of standard processes and systems.
  • Frequently expected to choose the most appropriate solution.
  • Basic understanding of customer priorities.

You have:

  • Must have an undergraduate Electrical Engineering degree or Technologist Diploma from an accredited university or College.
  • Must be either formally registered, or in training, to be a Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist in the Province of Alberta and have specific knowledge of the Alberta Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act, APEGA Regulations, APEGA Code of Ethics, APEGA By-Laws, ASET Regulations, and APEGA Professional Technologists Regulations - particularly as they apply to the relevant application of members’ stamps and Permit to Practice approvals on issued drawings and specifications.
  • Possess solid time management skills.
  • Under general supervision; ability to exercise judgment; receives clear instructions from supervisor on what to do and how to do it.
  • Ordinary/common courtesy
  • Previous EHT design experience is an asset, but not required.
  • Travel to client sites up to 25%
