Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an entry level Manufacturing Engineer to join the team in Ridley Park, PA.
The Boeing Vertical Lift facility, located in Ridley Park, PA, is home to the H-47 Chinook Helicopter and the V-22 Osprey Tiltrotor. These aircraft are designed, tested, and manufactured at the Philadelphia site and are sold to both US military and international customers.
The plant is situated along the Delaware River approximately 7 miles southwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 2 miles from the Philadelphia (PHL) international airport and minutes from both New Jersey and Delaware. Boeing Ridley Park employs approximately 5,000 people. The Philadelphia Manufacturing Engineering team is integrated with other production engineering disciplines that are engaged in diverse, challenging and exciting roles throughout the site.

THIS POSITION MUST MEET EXPORT CONTROL COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS, THEREFORE A “US PERSON” AS DEFINED BY 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 IS REQUIRED. “US PERSON” INCLUDES US CITIZEN, LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENT, REFUGEE, OR ASYLEE.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience): (see required education and experience for this level below)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE):

  • Strong analytical/technical, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and work well within a team environment to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tool set: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience in aviation.
  • Knowledge of the various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems.
  • IBI/Cognos – Business intelligence data analytics software
  • Ability to collaborate with both the engineering work force and mechanics on the factory floor

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development and implementation of production and tooling methodologies.
  • Participates as a member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to support the integration of technical solutions across multiple disciplines.
  • Supports the development, identification and implementation of conceptual designs and maintenance of the program architecture for build.
  • Participates in the implementation of manufacturing plans.
  • Investigates technical problems.
  • Participates in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies. Interfaces with IPTs and internal customers to develop products, skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Strong analytical/technical, problem solving and communication skills.
