Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Dam Safety Engineer to be based in Germantown, Maryland or Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
We are looking for a candidate to work as part of our East Region Dams Practice located in our Germantown, Maryland or Conshohocken, Pennsylvania office as an Entry Level Structural Dam Safety Engineer. This position will support a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region. The successful candidate will join the ENR consistently ranked #1 Dams and Reservoirs firm and have access to exciting career advancement opportunities.
This position is expected to begin in May 2024.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree concentration in Structural Engineering.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Proven coursework and/or background in structural engineering, including reinforced concrete design, statics, structural dynamics, and mechanics of materials.
  • Ability and desire to occasionally travel to project sites, both local and remote.
  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility.
  • Resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

  • Experience with related software such as AutoCAD, Mathcad, STADD Pro, and Ansys.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to dam project managers, including design, analysis, inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of dams.
  • Perform dam analysis and design such as structural stability and strength analysis of concrete dams and appurtenant structures (spillways, outlet works, and other site civil structures).
  • Prepare structural evaluation reports, drawings, and specifications for dam projects.
  • Prepare structural details and drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Conduct field observations and site visits for dam safety inspections and dam construction oversight.
  • Progression toward greater responsibility, including task and project management and certification as a professional engineer.
