Job Description
AECOM ‘s Environment Team is actively seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Impact Assessment and Permitting Team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This position will integrate into a well-developed team of environmental scientists, planners, and engineers to provide support on various infrastructure and development projects across a range of sectors, including mining, transport (road/rail), water/wastewater utilities, energy, and oil and gas. We are looking for a junior environmental candidate to assist with timely delivery of high-quality environmental assessments which includes supporting data analysis, regulatory permitting submissions, public and stakeholder engagement, technical writing, and presentations. We are seeking highly motivated and accountable candidate that works collaboratively with other team members and are effective communicators. Organizational skills and an ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment are essential qualities. This is a permanent full time position reporting to the Impact Assessment & Permitting Lead in Winnipeg.
As part of our team, the successful applicant will assist in environmental work and deliverables throughout a project life cycle (environmental assessment, permitting, construction and post-construction support), including:
+ Working with and supporting the team of technical environmental specialists in executing provincial, and Federal environmental assessments/impact assessments (planning, preliminary design, detail design, alternative delivery projects) as well as other approval and permitting activities for infrastructure/development projects.
+ Support in the identification and assessment of environmental features, constraints, project components and alternatives, potential environmental effects, mitigation measures and monitoring.
+ Assist the project teams in the preparation of technical documents to support regulatory approvals.
+ Researching, conceptualizing, planning, and writing drafts of reports related to planning, design and permitting.
+ Assist the project team in the planning, coordination of logistics of project activities, including field work and public consultation workshops.
+ Collaborating with technical and professional staff across the company in completing assignments.
+ Coordinating, preparing for, attending, and documenting project meetings.
+ Some overnight travel may be required to service project needs of the client.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related areas (e.g. Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Studies)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organization, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills as this role requires continuous interaction with team leaders.
  • Ability to express ideas logically, clearly and concisely; function effectively as part of a team; maintain discretion and confidentiality and work in both field and office environments.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $55,000 - $80,000.
