An exciting opportunity has arisen for a client-facing Environment Manager to join our Sustainability and Social Impact team. You will be the lead for environment related activity and strategy in NHS Shared Business Services. You will also be responsible for setting and leading on the carbon reduction strategy, advising, and delivering on our Science Based Net-Zero by 2040 targets alongside working with our group organisation Sopra Steria to align and streamline carbon reduction activity.
This is a hybrid working role, with one day a week in either our Salford or London office.

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as an SME for teams, colleagues, and external collaborators on carbon reduction and so will act as the ‘go to’ to advise the business of any key risks or challenges related to climate change or carbon emissions.
  • Leading on all related environmental policy, both the creation and upkeep of annual submissions such as our Carbon Reduction Plan, but also strategy documentation and updates on annual progress.
  • Supporting the NHS reach their own Net-Zero goals through the formation and delivery of carbon reduction projects such as mapping out NHS Trusts Emissions footprints and working alongside organisations to advise and support during the journey.
  • Engaging with internal collaborators, including senior leadership, departments, and employees, to promote awareness and understanding of environmental goals and initiatives.
  • Contributing to the development of internal policies, guidelines, and procedures to support environmental management and sustainability objectives.
  • Collaborating closely with trusts, handling confidential and intricate data sets encompassing scope 1, 2, and 3, understanding their individual needs and challenges. Explore supports to help them in their sustainability journey, and devise strategies to actively engage customers on this path.
