JOIN OUR TEAM AT GFL ENVIRONMENTAL AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH &SAFETY SPECIALIST IN CRANBROOK, BC!
Are you dedicated to promoting workplace safety and wellness? We’re in search of a talented Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team on a one-year contract, supporting operations in both East and West Kootenay, BC. Our office is located in Cranbrook, BC.
Responsibilities:
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Self-motivated to manage workload.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation for BC
- Must have a strong focus on National Safety Code compliance, ensuring our fleet and drivers adhere to regulatory standards.
- Post- Secondary Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) or MSO (Manufacturing Safety Officer) designation
- Class 5 License and willingness to travel throughout the Kootenays as required.
- Conduct onsite inspections to evaluate safe work practices.
- Develop any safe operating procedures or practices; Job Hazard Assessments.
- Perform internal audits of work practices and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation
- Support external audit functions in assigned divisions.
- Maintain a culture of safety excellence throughout the assigned area.
- Assist and support in the investigation process and determining root causes and corrective actions with support from Regional EHS team.
- Review, classify and report on injuries, property damages, and environmental events.
- Assist and maintain training requirements including new and existing employees.
