JOIN OUR TEAM AT GFL ENVIRONMENTAL AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH &SAFETY SPECIALIST IN CRANBROOK, BC!

Are you dedicated to promoting workplace safety and wellness? We’re in search of a talented Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team on a one-year contract, supporting operations in both East and West Kootenay, BC. Our office is located in Cranbrook, BC.

Responsibilities:

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Self-motivated to manage workload.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation for BC
  • Must have a strong focus on National Safety Code compliance, ensuring our fleet and drivers adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Post- Secondary Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) or MSO (Manufacturing Safety Officer) designation
  • Class 5 License and willingness to travel throughout the Kootenays as required.
  • Conduct onsite inspections to evaluate safe work practices.
  • Develop any safe operating procedures or practices; Job Hazard Assessments.
  • Perform internal audits of work practices and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation
  • Support external audit functions in assigned divisions.
  • Maintain a culture of safety excellence throughout the assigned area.
  • Assist and support in the investigation process and determining root causes and corrective actions with support from Regional EHS team.
  • Review, classify and report on injuries, property damages, and environmental events.
  • Assist and maintain training requirements including new and existing employees.
