Here at Tasman District Council, we are all about the people. What we do touches the lives of everyone in our region, enabling communities to reach their potential. We are a great organisation to work for, passionate about what we do, and full of people who want to make a positive difference.

ABOUT YOU:

This is a role with a good mix of field and office work, which means we’re looking for someone with a diverse skill set, who has the ability to problem solve and think on their feet. You must have exceptional communication and customer service skills with a calm, solution-focused approach to issues and be organised with a great sense of humour. The successful candidate will have sound decision-making skills and confidence applying and interpreting legislation and policy to relevant situations.
Having a degree in Science, majoring in environmental health, health science or equivalent is essential. We also envisage the successful applicant will have some experience working in environmental health and public health compliance and enforcement roles. While applicants with experience are preferred, we are happy to consider applications from recent graduates.
If you enjoy being part of a productive team and have a passion for the improvement of environmental health services and standards, we are keen to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

The role of an Environmental Health Officer has a range of responsibilities focussing largely on the verification and inspection of food premises registered under the Food Act 2014, enquiring, interviewing, and reporting on alcohol licence applications and managers certificates as well as investigating both noise issues and general health nuisances.
