Job Description
AECOM is actively growing the East Region Environmental Planning & Permitting (EPP) practice and is seeking an Environmental Project Manager within the Mid-Atlantic EPP Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for team management and have experience overseeing environmental permitting and utility siting projects for energy and other private sector clients. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM EPP specialists across the US.
For this opportunity, we will consider candidates in any of our Mid-Atlantic Regional offices including, but not limited to, the following: Baltimore, MD; Germantown, MD; Cincinnati, OH; Arlington, VA; Glen Allen, VA; Norfolk, VA. This is a hybrid work model with some remote and some office presence may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Natural resources, Wetlands management, or an earth science-related field is preferred
  • Master’s degree in relevant field is favored
  • 10+ years industry experience, preferably with energy and other private sector clients providing environmental assessment and permitting compliance support, including FERC requirements
  • PMP or other project management certification is a plus; candidate will be required to complete AECOM Project Management Certification
  • Demonstrated ability to market and win work successfully and effectively
  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations
  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery
  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders
  • Previous experience leading teams of professionals in executing wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species studies, environmental permitting support, and other related studies/assessments/analyses
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface successfully with Clients
  • Demonstrated organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and administer all staff and projects carried out by those directly reporting to this position
  • Manage and perform consulting projects to scope, schedule, and budget, learning and applying AECOM’s project management systems and software
  • The candidate will accelerate through AECOM’s in-house Project Management certification program within the first year of employment
  • Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff
  • Perform client visits and field activities that require work outside the office and overnight travel
  • Coordinate, manage, and direct project field and data collection efforts
  • Develop, manage, and deliver business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and documents and report deliverables
  • Serve as an interface with clients and regulatory personnel on complex projects and through business development initiatives
  • Proactively enforce a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Heath & Safety within the team
  • Provide technical support to the EPP Department and individual Project Managers, and support inter-disciplinary business development activities
  • Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines
