Our three surface mines, Brule, Willow Creek, and Wolverine, position us as key players in serving customers across South America, Europe, and Asia. This role is based at our Tumbler Ridge office, and successful candidates will be expected to reside in the area in order to support our on-site operations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- 1- 3 years of experience in environmental reporting or a related role, preferably in the mining or resources industry.
- Demonstrated experience in tracking timelines, coordinating information requests and data compilation, and facilitating communication between teams and consultants.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and effective industry best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in working with diverse teams, including permitting, engineering, and environmental staff to meet corporate requirements, manage risks, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
- Ability to adhere to a 5x2 schedule with 8-hour shifts.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to track multiple deliverables, organize priorities based on deadlines and manage competing priorities to meet all deadlines.
- Proficiency in preparing RFPs, requesting quotes, and managing requisitions for QP reports, plans, and responses.
- Experience in coordinating data compilation and information requests, particularly related to inspection reports.
- Attention to detail and the ability to conduct initial reviews of reports, plans and responses to ensure compliance with permit conditions and deliverable requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with personnel on-site and facilitate information collection and relationship-building.
- Familiarity with the permitting process and regulatory requirements related to reporting in the mining industry.
- Ability to collaborate and liaise between site-based teams and the permitting team to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and productively as a team member and with external communities of interest including regulatory agencies and Indigenous groups.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Project and Planner, and other relevant software tools for task management, the compilation of various forms of information, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Track timelines and due dates of key reports, plan and inspection response deliverables and provide regular progress updates to the environmental managers.
- Prepare requests for proposals (RFPs), request quotes, prepare requisitions, and approve invoices for Qualified Professionals (QP) reports, plans, and inspection responses, keeping the environmental managers informed throughout the process.
- Coordinate meetings and information requests arising from QP reports, plans, and inspection reports, working closely with the site-based team to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
- Conduct an initial review of QP reports, plans, and inspection responses upon receipt to ensure that permit conditions are addressed and requested deliverables are met, in coordination with the review conducted by the environmental managers.
- Coordinate internal and external reviews of reports, plans, and inspection responses.
- Frequent visits to the sites to gain on-site perspective and engage with personnel to foster strong working relationships, as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between the sites and the permitting team and community affairs team, facilitating effective communication and collaboration on reporting and stakeholder/First Nations engagement requirements.
- Assist in the development and improvement of uniform reporting processes and aligned documentation across all Conuma mining properties, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data and information for reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Compile monthly internal CEO and COO Performance Reports.
- Work with the Systems Coordinator to maintain organized records of reports, responses, and related documentation, ensuring proper documentation and archiving procedures are followed.
- Complete audits of Conuma’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Support the environmental manager in other reporting-related activities, as assigned.
- Other duties as required.
