Description:

The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of 2-3 years technical experience in the environmental field and/or in the mining industry.
  • Familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Environmental legislation.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather; proficient in the use of watercraft, snowmachine and ATV/UTV.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and extended hours in order to facilitate field baseline programs.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF ROLE

You will be responsible for monitoring activities in the environmental department to ensure compliance with environmental regulations at the Kinross Great Bear site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Collect and monitor environmental data (including but not limited to surface water, ground water, air & noise, light and acid rock drainage).
  • Organize and coordinate logistics for field programs in collaboration with external consultants.
  • Supervise/assist subcontractors during field work including excavation, sampling, borehole drilling, etc.
  • Organize and carry out sampling schedules for all environmental programs including external laboratory audits.
  • Review and maintain accurate data and test results in accordance with site standards and Government sampling and monitoring criteria.
  • Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
  • Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN RED LAKE, ON. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL WORK A 5X2 SCHEDULE.
