QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Qualified Instrumentation Technician or equivalent.
  • Electrical qualification an Advantage
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (Knowledge of RIMS and SAP advantageous)

Responsibilities:

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Are you passionate about workplace safety and looking for a challenging role where you can make a difference? Join our team at Nyrstar Port Pirie as an Environmental Technician. We are seeking a dedicated individual to maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot operational issues for environmental monitoring equipment required for compliance and non-compliance monitoring including SO2 monitors, communication links, high volume Analysers and Real Time Lead in Air Analysers.
This role is residentially based in Port Pirie, South Australia, operating on a Monday-Friday roster. Ideally the successful candidate will already be residentially based or willing to relocate to Port Pirie. Relocation assistance will be provided if required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure that a proactive approach is taken to identify and eliminate any health, safety or environmental hazards and potential incidents.
  • Manage own and others work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Investigate and report on all accidents and incidents.
  • Install new monitoring equipment.
  • May aid with data analysis, trending and presentation including spatial data.
  • Set up and follow calibration schedules for monitoring equipment and instrumentation.
  • Maintain the real time water analysers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment function and telemetry in collaboration with relevant stakeholders e.g. Ecotech, IT/OT teams, etc.
  • Conduct daily HiVol filter change outs, update LIA data collected daily, send out emails and enter RIMS for exceedances triggered.
