About the Role
Equity and Excellence: realising the potential of every student (the education strategy) provides clarity for schools about priorities and expectations and provides a range of improved system supports designed to achieve sustainable and equitable improvement in Queensland state schooling.
The Partnership Initiative (PI) is a place-based action included in the education strategy under the system initiative: ‘integrated responses and educational precincts.’
The initiative supports the involvement of First Nations communities in decision making to lift learning and life outcomes for young indigenous Australians.
A total of 42 schools are participating in the Partnership Initiative, receiving focused support to serve as catalysts for community and educational advancement within their respective high-complexity and vulnerable localities.
School Community Partnership Facilitator (identified) positions are allocated as part of the Partnership Initiative. This role will foster meaningful connections between school, students, parents, and the local community.

The incumbent appointed as the Director, Partnership Initiative (identified) will have the following key roles and responsibilities:

  • Lead the wrap around support for School Community Partnerships Facilitators (SCPF) role
  • Support capability needs of school leaders and SCPF to lead local community engagement in a shared decision-making process
  • Support cultural well-being needs of SCPF role where required
  • Support the Partnership Initiative School Principals achieve desired community engagement outcomes
  • Build expertise of schools and community around place-based decision making
  • Develop culturally appropriate toolkits to support the SCPF roles at Partnership Initiative schools

Responsibilities:

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR AND IDENTIFIED ROLE:

It is a genuine occupational requirement for Identified roles that the position be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act.
Verification of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Island heritage

For administrative purposes, in relation to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is either:

  • of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;
  • accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.

By definition a person who is not an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
