Welcome to Charleville School of Distance Education, a Queensland State School offering quality educational services to home based learners from Prep to Year 10 in rural and remote Queensland and beyond.Our students complete their education through daily use of online resources supplied within the Learning Place, telephone and video conferencing ’on-air’ lessons, email and through materials sent via Australia Post. This is enhanced through attendance at Field Events, held each term, when students come together at various locations to meet their classmates and teachers face-to-face.Charleville School of Distance Education has a vibrant school community despite its members being separated by distance, hence our motto ‘Divided by Distance, United by Voice’
Charleville is approximately 680km from Brisbane serviced by Sunday to Friday air flights. It is the largest town in the Murweh shire and provides a range of amenities including Prep to year 12 educational facilities and services.
About the Role
We require a Guidance Officer who is able to work as part of the support team at each of these schools while also being able to work independently to deliver high quality services. The Guidance Officer of a distance education school provides support through online services and requires capacity to develop connections with support services in a range of locations. An applicant with knowledge of Prep to Year 10 diverse learners, inclusive practices, curriculum adjustments, supporting student’s mental health and behavioural needs would be highly favourable.

  • provide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes; and
  • collaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies, are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs, and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.
