Responsibilities:
- Conducts interviews and epidemiological investigations for suspected and diagnosed communicable diseases to include cases involving an outbreak of sexually transmitted infections.
- Investigates transmission route and traces contacts that may have been exposed to common source or to the patient for communicable infections/STIs.
- Makes telephonic, written, or personal contact with the named individuals, units, and all other sources necessary as part of the investigation.
- Conducts prevention training and informational presentations for reportable events such as STD/HIV, weather related injuries, and various communicable diseases.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities to assist with the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of communicable diseases and reportable conditions.
- Attends meetings and participates in the performance improvement process through communication with providers, administrative staff, management, and others to improve quality of care.
