ABOUT YOU

  • You will hold a degree or equivalent professional experience
  • You will have experience in the field of equality and diversity, and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of policies and good practice in this area, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You will have proven project management skills, including the ability to work independently in a complex environment, taking initiative when necessary and prioritising work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • You will have the ability to understand and manipulate data and the ability to compile and manage online surveys
  • You will have a commitment to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion

Responsibilities:

  • You will join a thriving, friendly and supportive team reporting to the Head of HR and working closely with the Chair of the Chair of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (EDI Committee). We will invest in your personal development through training and professional development.
  • You will lead and manage a wide portfolio of projects relating to equality and diversity in the School of Geography and the Environment, including the Athena Swan Action plan.
  • You will take the lead in designing and implementing new initiatives which will contribute to the achievement of the School’s Athena Swan targets and broader equality and diversity goals.
  • You will take responsibility for the application process for Athena Swan awards and other relevant EDI accreditations. Monitor progress made by the School in advancing diversity and inclusion by analysing data from disparate sources and reporting on progress to the School’s EDI Committee;
  • You will provide specialist advice and support on equality and diversity matters to other members of the School.
