POSITION OVERVIEW

As part of the Materials Management & Logistics team and reporting to the Materials Management Team Leader, the Equipment Operator - Utility 2, will be responsible for checking off and sort incoming freight deliveries, offloading and loading of all aircrafts and other related airport apron activities, participate in all Winter Road activities such as unloading, unstrapping, and escorting Winter Road trucks and the delivery of fuel and lubes to all required operational mining equipment and bulk fuel delivery to day tanks around the site.
The successful candidate must be able to safely operate various equipment including loaders, forklifts, skid steers, zoom booms, genie lifts, Bulk fuel tankers, lube trucks and tractor trailers. The successful candidate must be self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi- task and can work independently, as well as part of a team to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity. Physical requirements include climbing, lifting, working outdoors in extreme cold weather conditions and must be able to sustain periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling and working at heights. Night shift rotations may also be required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Class 1 driver’s license with Airbrake certification would be considered an asset;
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, which includes familiarity of chemical products, use, disposal and Safety Data Sheets applications.
  • Experience in the fuel delivery, fuel distribution and/or fuel management;
  • Experience in mining operations or industrial settings;
  • Bulk lube truck and bulk fuel truck experience;
  • Working knowledge of SAP and computer literacy with willingness to learn new computer skills;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity;
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines;
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate

Responsibilities:

  • Complete the checking off and sorting of incoming freight and safely deliver freight to various site locations with the use of five (5) flat deck truck or tractor/trailer, ensuring all loads are properly secured;
  • Safely loading and unloading of all freight aircrafts, operation of de-icing truck, de-icing of aircrafts and unloading luggage from passenger flights;
  • Building of backhauls, including supplying weights for each back-haul item;
  • Snow removal from various logistics and laydown yards as required;
  • Operate bulk lube and bulk fuel trucks including Cat 730 & 745, Tractor Trailer & perform required services on Heavy Equipment such as greasing, fueling, and fluid top ups, as required.
  • Maintain inventory levels in all locations, distribute fuel and lubes to all locations when required;
  • Operate computerized Fuel management System
  • All Winter Road activities including unloading, unstrapping and escorting of all winter road trucks and preparing the laydowns and staging areas for both winter road front and back hauls;
  • Safe operation of various equipment including IT28, IT38 and IT62 loaders, various forklifts, skid steers, zoom booms, Genie lifts, tractor trailers, five (5) ton flat deck truck, cube van and lube truck;
  • Support the warehouse activities such as explosive and inventory deliveries;
  • Safe operation of all vehicles and equipment, with good knowledge of site locations and roadways;
  • Perform deliveries in timely manner in line with maintenance and operational requirements;
  • Practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and clean worksite, including general housekeeping and maintenance of the lube room;
  • Daily equipment inspection documented in equipment logbooks;
  • Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.
