THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an Equity Research Associate specializing in the Technology sector to join our dynamic investment team. As the successful candidate, you will bring a fresh and innovative approach to our firm’s global portfolios. As an entrepreneurial thinker, you will stay current on trends in technology research and participate in presentations of profitable ideas; ensuring that we are well-positioned to take advantage of market forces and provide strong returns to our clients.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Completion of undergraduate/graduate degree in Business, Finance, Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • CFA designation, in the process of obtaining or equivalent.
  • 2 years relevant experience including equity research (healthcare focus), direct industry experience, investment banking or M&A.
  • Strong understanding of the Technology sector with accounting and statistical skill sets.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to articulate results.
  • Demonstrates advanced modeling capabilities.
  • Driven to put forth investment recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Exhibits a natural and high-level intellectual curiosity when researching new topics.
  • An ability to produce high-quality and/or final work product and solutions in a rapidly changing environment with tight deadlines, with the skill to prioritize to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
  • Excellent time management, analytical thinking, problem solving, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to team goals and greater collaboration.
  • Approaches their career with a positive and growth-oriented mindset that radiates a natural passion, enthusiasm and core personal values that respects others and ethics.
  • Long and short equity investment experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze equities in the Technology sector for the firm’s equity portfolios.
  • Explore ideas, including Long and Short thesis statements in conjunction with analyst initiatives.
  • Research ideas generated by our quantitative investment process.
  • Conduct financial analysis (relative value, financial modelling, etc.) for the research team.
  • Monitor existing portfolios for changes in investment thesis.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to the Technology analyst and portfolio managers.
  • Provide support on all aspects of the portfolio management process including construction, implementation and risk monitoring.
  • Analyze quarterly reports, conference calls and relevant company details.
  • Monitor industry trends, remain current on political and economic trends and events to assess impact on investment decisions and existing portfolios.
