JOB SUMMARY:

ESE QIEP Specialist is responsible for providing support to teachers and schools to ensure that students with disabilities demonstrate increased participation and performance in the standard or access curriculum, statewide assessments through Quality IEP writing, analysis, and implementation. QIEP Specialist assists schools in demonstrating full and satisfactory implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and implementing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requirements through coaching and professional development of faculty and staff for QIEP.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of teaching experience with students with disabilities.
  • ESE Compliance knowledge in state/federal legal requirements for QIEP implementation.
  • Experience supporting teachers/education team members.
  • Demonstrated success in writing QIEP.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment of Florida Standards and Access Standards, professional development, behavioral interventions, management strategies, instructional strategies in order to write and implement QIEP.
  • State and federal law knowledge and understanding for Students with Disabilities.
  • Organization/Follow up/tracking skills.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem-solving: Effectively organizes and analyzes information and anticipates challenges or new information to solve problems. Integrates and acts upon new information quickly, and is comfortable thinking about details and the big picture
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of MTSS process for data driven QIEP and intervention for instructional support.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and coach teachers through the writing and implementation of the QIEP process for students with disabilities.
  • Systematically shares data with schools to assist school staff in monitoring the achievement of students with disabilities and the schools’ satisfactory implementation of IDEA and Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as related to QIEP
  • Plans, conducts and/or facilitates, and evaluates professional development for school-based and personnel (faculty and support staff) and parents related to the education of students with disabilities for QIEP
  • Provides direction to schools in aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment for both standard and Access curriculum students for QIEP
  • Provides recommendations for ESE curriculum and supplemental instructional materials to faculty, schools, and consortium
  • Provides support to faculty and schools in the development of appropriate service delivery models for students with disabilities
  • Implements QIEP ESE accountability processes to monitor the achievement of students with disabilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
