ESTIMATING MANAGER

With continued growth and over $1.3 billion of work-in-hand, Georgiou have an opportunuty for an experienced Estimating Manager to join our building team.
This role will co-ordinate, manage and motivate the work winning functions via the generation of profitable tenders for authorisation and submission, to meet the requirements of the approved business plan. You will oversee specific projects from conceptual design to tender, design & documentation phase, through to project completion..

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

General

  • Responsible for the management of the Tendering function for the BU operations.
  • Guide the tender selection process and manage tendering resource requirements.
  • Develop and implement winning strategies and ensure the type of risk undertaken on projects tendered is aligned with the Group requirements, including the identification of internal and external resources required to support the pursuit of key targets.
  • Take responsibility for managing tenders within established policies and in accordance with delegated authorities for the BU.

Tender Management

  • Manage the approval to tender, tender review and submission processes, including the assignment and support of the required tender resources.
  • Control and coordinate the post tender submission through until the project handover.
  • Drive innovation and winning themes for tenders.
  • Ensure tenders reflect the client’s and Georgiou’s requirements to successfully deliver the project.
  • Ensure the tender team coordinates and collaborates with subject matter experts on methodology, program, industrial relations, plant and tender review processes.
  • Ensure the type of risks undertaken on tenders / contracts are aligned with Georgiou’s strategy, standards, and processes.
  • Ensure that each tender has assessed the risks & opportunities and that values are assigned for these in the bid.
  • Collect and maintain benchmark information for tenders and information on ‘actuals’ achieved for use in verifying first principle estimates.
  • Co-ordinate tender resources within the BU and where relevant with other business units within the Group.

Client & Subcontractor Relationship Management

  • Manage client relationships to understand expectations and or provide options to enhance the relationship.
  • Remain up to date on issues affecting the local market to source the most cost-effective consultants / subcontractors and materials for tendering; subcontractors and suppliers are managed through preferred procurement software.
  • Encourage innovation, resourcefulness, and engagement within the Tender team to ensure better pricing from subcontractors and suppliers is achieved.

Project Handover & Start-up

  • Coordinate and lead a thorough tender handover to the project team including highlighting areas of concern or opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct follow up and lessons learned with the client and bid team to improve tender hit rate (on successful and un-successful tenders).
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure the smooth transition and start-up of awarded projects to the project team.

People Management

  • Provide leadership to the Tender team through mentoring and coaching.
  • Manage performance through key performance indicators and motivate the Tender team to achieve high performance outcomes.
  • Develop and retain people to produce high quality outcomes; continuously review the performance of employees against performance criteria, provide feedback on performance and set goals to meet BU and broader Group outcomes.
