Description:

LEVEL OF EDUCATION:

  • Level of education corresponding to Level 7 of the European Qualification Framework (Master’s degree of 5 years).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in Python development, including frameworks and libraries for AI, machine learning, natural language processing.
  • Familiarity with modern machine learning architectures (e.g., transformer models, recommendation systems).
  • Ability to use and adapt open-source software solutions and AI models (e.g., huggingface transformers).
  • Deployment of AI solutions in operational environments, including knowledge of best practices (e.g., git, DevOps, containers, CI/CD).
  • Writing clear and structured technical documents and user documentation.
  • Adaptability to fast-changing technologies in ML, NLP, AI.
  • Participation in technical meetings and effective communication skills.

NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Integration in an international/multicultural environment.
  • Rapid self-starting capability.
  • Experience in teamwork.
  • Proficiency in English (B2).
  • Excellent time-management skills for multiple overlapping software development projects.

Responsibilities:

Training of Custom AI/ML/NLP Models:

  • Training custom AI/ML/NLP models based on structured and unstructured data (text, image, video).
  • Fine-tuning pre-existing/open-source models.

Architecture Definition and Software Implementation:

  • Defining architecture.
  • Implementing and maintaining software solutions in the AL/ML/NLP field.
  • Utilizing and adapting open-source software packages.

End-to-End Development of AI-Based Software and Tools:

  • Conceptualizing solutions based on ECAT researchers’ needs.
  • Collecting data.
  • Implementing and documenting applications ready for production deployment.

Subject Matter Expert Technical Support:

  • Providing technical support on AI/ML/NLP to JRC/ECAT technical and scientific staff.

Participation in Meetings:

  • Participating in technical working groups, progress meetings, and stakeholder meetings.
