ABOUT US

University Arms consists of 192 design-led bedrooms, complemented by Parker’s Tavern, a high-end, quintessentially British Restaurant and Bar, Library, and a stunning Ballroom. Set in the heart of Cambridge, University Arms is the ‘go to’ destination, alluring visitors with the promise of a sense of modern luxury.
There are few halls in Cambridge that compare with the grandeur and charm of the University Arms Ballroom — a wood-panelled room that belongs to our city’s heritage. Summer or winter, the Ballroom is the perfect space for large events, accommodating up to 200 seated guests. Our elegant historic Ballroom, combined with Parker’s Tavern’s, delicious British food beverage offering makes us one of the ‘go to’ destinations within Cambridge.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

As an Events Assistant Manager, you will work as part of a team to serve our Guests and create exceptional experiences, and exceed expectations to ensure that every guest wants to return. In the absence of the Events Manager, you will oversee and manage all Conference and Events operations, including the team. This is an operational role; not a sales role.

THE DUTIES

  • Oversee and manage all Conference and Events operations, including the team, in the absence of the Events Manager.
  • Constantly seeking out opportunities to go above and beyond for our guests. Make it your mission to ensure that every guest leaves happy.
  • The role works as part of a team to deliver fantastic food and beverage at events such as weddings, conferences, and private dinners, in our elegant Ballroom and library.
  • The working hours vary from day to day and therefore flexibility in availability is key, particularly since the role involves the occasional early morning starts late nights.
  • You will be hands-on and proactive supporting with the setting up of events prior to guests’ arrival, ensuring everything is organised and prepared.
  • You thrive on teamwork and support the management team to ensure our guests always leave with a fully positive dining experience.
  • On non-event days to work alongside the FB Managers in delivering excellent service in the Restaurant or Bar.
  • We believe in flexibility and multi-skilling, and you may be asked to do different tasks from time to time to enable us to meet the needs of our guests.
