POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Executive Director leads a dedicated team at Canadian Mental Health Association - Calgary Region (CMHA Calgary) of approximately 130 employees to address the needs of those living with a mental health or substance use concern through community- based mental health programming.
Reporting to the CMHA Calgary Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for leading the organization and ensuring the implementation of CMHA Calgary’s vision, mission, and values in accordance with the Strategic Plan.
The primary responsibilities of this position include organizational strategic planning, development of strategic partnerships for optimization of the public’s spending for mental health (focus on Calgary with consideration for provincial/national creative solutions), collaboration with government, health and public, overseeing education, training, and individual and family support programs and representing CMHA Calgary in the community and with the public.
The Executive Director will provide effective leadership, financial stewardship, and day-to-day management of operations and set the tone for management to foster ethical and responsible decision-making and appropriate management practices.
Working closely and collaboratively with the Board through the Chair, the Executive Director will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. The Executive Director is a passionate advocate for mental health who builds strong relationships with stakeholders and provides leadership and guidance in being a role model employer through building a wellness-oriented culture that is inclusive and engaging.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree with commensurate skills and experience
  • 10 or more years management/leadership in a complex multi-jurisdictional Not For Profit (NFP) environment
  • Fundraising experience through partnerships with corporate, government, and public supporters
  • 5 or more years’ experience responsible for annual budgets of a minimum $10M
  • Experience managing real estate assets is beneficial
  • The ability to build and foster collaborative stakeholder relationships and engagement
