Description:

Overview:The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer for Family Solutions. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors (Board), and is responsible for achieving and maintaining the mission of the organization while ensuring its financial success. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency and the management of agency facilities. The Executive Director directly supervises the agency leadership team including the Finance Manager, Human Resource Manager, Quality Systems Director, Clinical Development Director and Development Director. The Executive Director will provide leadership to the strategic planning process and will help to implement new programmatic strategic initiatives. Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the operational aspects of the annual budget. Finally, the Executive Director will cultivate relationships with community partners.

The Executive Director is responsible for establishing a positive, healthy, and safe work environment that meets all regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and maintain an organizational climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of qualified employees.
  • Ensure the implementation of human resources policies, procedures, and practices including the development of job descriptions for all staff.
  • Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring staff performance on an on-going basis and conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Ensure that all staff receives an organizational orientation at the time of employment and the appropriate training that will enable them to fulfill the responsibilities of their positions.
  • Administer corrective action when necessary. Release staff when necessary using appropriate and legally defensible procedures.
  • Select and maintain an effective management team. Coach and mentor managers as appropriate to improve performance and morale.
  • Provide opportunities for staff development and education to agency employees.

The Executive Director must be thoroughly committed to Family Solutions’ mission. He or She must have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Specific requirements include:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field; or Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent experience and expertise.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in administration, involving the supervision of mutilple individuals in a diverse staff and management of a significant budget
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or Social Work with a focus on administration and 5 years’ experience managing social service or child welfare programs.
  • A proven track record of effectively leading a non-profit human services organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken a non-profit organization to the next stage of growth.
  • Must possess an unwavering commitment to establishing quality programs and data-driven program evaluation that demonstrates their efficacy.
  • Must demonstrate excellence in organizational management with the ability to: coach staff, manage and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, develop and manage an organizational budget.
  • Must demonstrate a successful working relationship with a Board of Directors.
  • Must possess a proven track record of strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills this includes the ability to be a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a demonstrated ability to convey a vision for the organization’s future to staff, Board, community partners, and donors.
  • Must be proactive, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and have an innovative approach to business planning.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people

Specific Responsibilities include the following:

  • Direct supervision of the Clinical Development Director and Quality Systems Director.
  • Ensure proficiency in best clinical practices, which will include evidence-based practices and clinical outcome measures that best address the therapeutic needs of persons served.
  • Validate adherence to a professional code of ethical standards with regard to treatment and confidentiality of the person served.
  • Ensure clinical documentation compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and agency standards

Foster mutual understanding, trust, and support with community partners. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Works collaboratively with community partners by attending State, local, and Association meetings. Evaluates and assess’ current and future business environment, trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals.
  • Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations.
  • Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to community agencies and the general public.
  • Implement processes to determine the validity of, and responds to, all inquiries, concerns, and formal grievances made by community partners regarding agency programs and services.
  • Promote agency standards, culture, and integrity when participating in community meetings and other activities

The Executive Director is responsible for the management and oversight of all agency programs and activities. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Direct supervision of positions as assigned by the agency’s organizational chart
  • Develop a strategy that offers periodic objectives toward achieving a long-term vision that reflects Family Solutions’ mission while, concurrently, meeting financial goals.
  • Provide leadership when developing organizational programs and financial plans; implement plans and policies as authorized by the Board.
  • Assure the use of generally accepted accounting practices in all financial mattersPrepare an annual budget and operate the organization within its budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its mission.
  • Jointly, with the Board, conduct official correspondence and execute legal documents.
  • Keep the Board fully informed regarding all internal and external factors that may affect the successful operation of the organization.
  • Approve monthly financial statements, monthly cash reports, and financial projections.
  • Identify and develop new and alternative sources of revenue.
  • Develop grant proposals to supplement existing programs and to originate new ones.
  • Ensure adherence to a business code of ethics that promote the norms, core values, and operating principles of the organization.
  • Maintain official records and documents as well as ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Remain current on all significant developments and trends within the field that can affect the organization’s financial solvency.
  • Oversee the annual review and update process for all agency polices.
  • Coordinates the development of departmental computer systems and applications and coordinates specific program activities with Information Technology Service
