EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, FITNESS TO PRACTISE (PO)
The Medical Council is seeking to recruit a Fitness to Practise Executive Director, (PO) to join our Executive Leadership team.
This role is accountable for all regulated activities, including monitoring compliance with restrictions imposed on practitioners within the Medical Council, in line with the statutory obligations of all relevant legislation.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the successful candidate will play a key role in modelling and supporting the Executive Leadership Team to build a values-based culture to support our vision and mission to deliver for Doctors/Patients and the Public by placing them at the heart of what we deliver day to day.
This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer and has responsibility for three direct reports and ten indirect reports
Responsibilities:
Participating as a member of the Medical Council Executive Leadership Team (ELT), working together to lead, motivate, empower, and develop colleagues across the organisation, helping to cultivate the desired organisational culture and achieve the strategic vision.
Leading the Fitness to Practise directorate and all the functions within it namely FTP Regulatory Investigations & Actions, Monitoring (which encompasses Performance Assessment) and FTP Operations and Governance, building engagement and capability within each team and the Directorate as a whole, ensuring strong alignment and relationships across the organisation to maximise collaboration and effectiveness between functions.
Developing and executing the strategy & short-, medium- and long-term business planning for the Fitness to Practise Directorate, aligned with the overarching Medical Council business strategy, plan and budget
Overseeing all activities to effectively manage the Fitness to Practise processes including further assessment and triage of the cases triggered by the Complaints & Investigations process to determine the appropriate pathway, ongoing management of the FTP caseload.
Driving activities to manage, monitor and record disciplinary outcomes including the management of all live disciplinary outcomes across the organisation; monitoring compliance with all live disciplinary outcomes; conducting performance assessments; development of a single source of truth repository for all undertakings, conditions, sanctions, publications etc.
Managing processes relating to the statutory obligations of all relevant legislation, escalating where appropriate to the CEO/Council.
Embedding the Medical Council’s organisational change programme with the aim to build a future-proof, fit-for-purpose regulatory organisation.
Building and maintaining effective relationships with key relevant internal and external stakeholders and professional bodies to inform the work of the Medical Council and to contribute to the wider health landscape.
Supporting and encouraging a culture of quality assurance, ensuring that systematic review and continuous improvement are integral to processes within this function and across the Medical Council.
