QUALIFICATIONS
This role demands a trusted leader with credibility in the labour relations community. Your career demonstrates extensive related senior management experience including considerable leadership in collective bargaining, dispute resolution or mediation environments. You bring sophisticated knowledge and experience in labour relations, negotiation and issue resolution, consultation processes, policy development and strategic planning. A practiced collaborator, your skill in building strong lines of communication, trust and partnership has provided the foundation for your solid relationships with union and industry leaders, stakeholders and government. Your background equips you with the agility to navigate competing public interests and maintain a position of neutrality. A related degree is preferred. Experience and/or training in dispute resolution or mediation is an asset.
Responsibilities:
Leading a team accountable for providing fair and balanced dispute resolution services to the labour relations community, you play a key role in the development of policies that proactively minimize workplace disputes and promote productive, collaborative work environments. Operating from a position of neutrality, you will build trusted relationships with stakeholders, advising on dispute resolution processes, and consulting on the development of programs, innovative solutions and future mediation service directions. Collaborating with labour and management representatives in setting direction for the development, recruitment and management of a roster of mediators and arbitrators, you will work to ensure integrity of the program within the community. Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategy and Policy, you are a key technical resource for senior officials, providing leadership and strategic advice regarding high profile labour disputes and collective bargaining issues and potential negotiation approaches.
