Description:

Hartley People Recruitment are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Engineer to join our client’s team in Kilkenny.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing engineering and ancillary services, managing infrastructural projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing budgets, and fostering a culture of health, safety, and welfare in the workplace.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hold an honors degree (level 8) in Engineering.
  • Have a minimum of five years of satisfactory relevant engineering experience.
  • Possess a high standard of technical and administrative experience.
  • Show comprehension of the municipal administration structure and the functions associated with the local governance entities.
  • Have a good knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety Legislation and its implications.
  • Demonstrate experience in scheduling/programming work.
  • Have experience in staff management and supervision.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of statutory obligations related to Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Experience in scheduling and programming work.
  • Previous experience in staff management and supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, control, and carry out engineering/ancillary services, including preparation and management of work programs.
  • Identify infrastructural needs and oversee the design and delivery of projects, including procurement and management of consultants and contractors.
  • Manage staff performance and development.
  • Effectively manage budgets for capital works and service delivery.
  • Maintain and develop a culture of Health, Safety, and Welfare in the workplace, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations.
  • Ensure works are implemented in compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Handle representations from elected members, community organizations, and the public.
  • Represent the client at meetings with various stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports for meetings as required.
  • Liaise with local authorities, Government Departments, and statutory agencies.
  • Work with senior management to devise and implement strategies for improved service delivery efficiencies.
