Job Description
To lead an assigned area, specifically Africa Banks, within the Global Financial Institutions Sector in delivering universal sector leadership and expertise into CIB and the client franchise, originating relevant solutions to add value to the client, while driving sector revenue and minimizing risk exposure to CIB.
Define the desired financial performance for the Africa Banks, locally and regionally, and ensure that the resources involved have the necessary leadership, skills, guidance, and support to achieve the set financial targets.
When required, partner with the Client Coverage Heads / Heads of Countries in Africa Regions, to ensure the achievement of financial targets in the applicable geographies
Provide the required strategic leadership, at a local and regional level, to identify and manage key African Bank Client relationships across presence markets & enable transaction execution
Develop and implement the Bank sub-sector strategy in line with the overall strategy and parameters set by the Head of Banks and Global Head Financial Institutions
Maintain detailed and current understanding of the industry (at a macro-global level, specific regional or local issues and key clients) to ensure that new opportunities for the African Banks are capitalized and threats are quickly identified.
Lead the development of innovative solutions tailored to the specific clients’ needs which will allow SBSA to meet the bank-subsector business requirements across Africa Regional Banks
Manage the level of exposure and set limits within the bank’s risk appetite for African Banks in the bank sub-sector(s), both locally and regionally
Qualifications
Degree in Business Commerce or Banking
Post Graduate Degree in Business Commerce
8 -10 years deep Bank sector knowledge and experience acting as trusted advisor and sector specialist at an Executive level.
7 - 8 years experience and exposure to Africa Regions
8-10 years experience with demonstrated an advanced understanding of a specific sector and overall CIB value proposition to enable sector origination.
8-10 years demonstrated experience as an industry thought leader, engaging and influencing key stakeholders across the sector (industry bodies, regulators).
8-10 years demonstrated experience leading complex origination efforts (multi-product, complex client, novel or unique idea) by contributing key industry expertise and insights..
8-10 years Having an understanding of the regulatory environment within the sub-sector (Banks) in which CIB operate, to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
