The post is suitable for an experienced physiotherapist with past experience in T&O. The post will be operating across both trauma and elective orthopaedic units, which work with individuals with a variety of complex needs.
You will work within the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team with experienced senior staff and be responsible for a clinical caseload as well as for supervising and developing junior staff and students. You will work closely with the MDT and community teams and contribute to seven day working.
The successful applicant will have NHS experience within T&O and possess excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, treatment and teaching skills. You will have sound IT skills and demonstrate the Trust’s values of Compassion, Aspiration, Resourcefulness and Excellence.
Regular appraisal, supervision and support will be given and there is a requirement to actively participate in CPD and audit. You will work alongside senior colleagues to implement new initiatives to continue to develop the service in line with best practice and clinical guidelines.
The Trauma & Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital provides cover across a number of services, including the Elective Orthopaedic and Trauma Units. As a senior member of the team, you will assess and treat patients with a variety of orthopaedic injuries. From a Trauma perspective, this will include neck of femur fractures, upper limb, lower limb, head/brain and spinal injuries. You will also help to rehabilitate patients who are repatriated from the major trauma centres following major trauma. We also cover paediatrics patients admitted after traumatic injuries.
The Elective caseload will include joint replacements and day case surgery across both our adult and paediatric day surgery wards, and the team also covers pre-operative joint schools to prepare arthroplasty patients for upcoming surgery. The post will contribute to the running of our evening Orthopaedic service, as well as weekend working across the Orthopaedic wards. The successful candidate will join the trust at an exciting time during the implementation of a day case arthroplasty pathway in keeping with national service development programmes.
