Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Experienced Tool & Fixture Specialist (Level C) to support our Portable Tool Repair Team in Final Assembly Team at North Charleston, South Carolina on Multiple Shifts!
Selected candidates will be assigned to one of the following shifts: 1st shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm; 3rd shift: 11:00 pm- 5:30 am. This position is on the 787 Final Assembly PTR Team; this team provides maintenance services and emergent support for all positive feed equipment and other pneumatic tools at BSC across all shifts. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Willing to work 1st or 3rd shift assigned.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekend, holiday, if required.
  • Capable of lifting up to 35 pounds on a regular basis.
  • 1+ years of experience with the set-up, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of machine tools.
  • 1+ years of experience in repairing, maintaining, construction, and/or the inspection of tools, dies, jigs, PowerFeed, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 3+ years of experience repairing tools

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 4 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+2 years’ related work, Bachelor, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex tool repair.
  • Documents completed repairs.
  • Performs visual inspections on tools using appropriate documentation.
  • Manufactures assembly and fabrication tools using various manual and computer-controlled machines, hand tools and precision alignment equipment.
  • Operates various factory support equipment to move materials and tools as required.
  • Provides tooling support to other organizations.
  • Designs various part fabrication and assembly tools per part engineering drawings or customer requests to enable production using computer or paper tool design processes.
  • Determines fabrication and assembly processes for the design.
  • Reverse engineers’ designs and fabrication processes for parts.
  • Demonstrates functionality of complex fabrication and assembly tools to approving authority by manufacturing first part with new tool.
  • Resolves problems with tool to produce acceptable parts and assemblies
  • Maintains tool crib inventory.
  • Works under general direction.
  • Able to train on 1st shift and work 1st, or 3rd shift schedule; and some weekends.
