Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Trade Control Specialist to join our dynamic team in Germantown, MD.
Digital Receiver Technology (DRT) seeks to hire a Lead Trade Control Specialist. This individual is responsible for DRT’s export and import activities and ensures that the compliance responsibilities are managed and maintained within the organization.
DRT designs and manufactures highly complex Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems for gathering, analyzing and sharing signals intelligence and other complex needs of the Intelligence, Defense and Homeland Security Communities. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 3+ years’ experience working with import and export regulations
  • 3+ years’ experience in Global Trade Controls

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Technical Bachelor’s, Master’s or a PhD degree (A technical degree is defined as any four-year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study)
  • Experience with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Experience supporting customer warranty contracts including the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process
  • Experience with acquisition policies, e.g., USG FAR/DFARS regulations
  • Experience working with proposals, contracts, and/or contract terms
  • Experience with shipment freight forwarding
  • Experience with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)/Schedule B coding
  • Experience with controlling Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years’ related work experience, 14 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies each function impacted or involved in trade control related activities and utilizes a process to ensure that proper classifications have been identified and are being maintained and managed
  • Ensures the performance of export and import transactions (e.g., hardware, software, technical data, and defense services) are conducted in a compliant manner
  • Coordinates with Boeing Global Trade Control (GTC) in communications with US and non-US government agencies and authorized resellers as related to imports and exports
  • Coordinates with management to provide leadership and maintain an environment that promotes compliance with applicable trade control laws and regulations
  • Responsible for obtaining proper signature for trade control authorization packages and other trade control required documentation
  • Implements a process to ensure authorizations are planned for in advance, obtained, and properly activated before use and deploys a recordkeeping management and reporting process for required records and reports
  • Sole ownership of receiving, tagging, tracking and shipping of Government Furnished Equipment, (GFE)
  • Monitors compliance activities, assists with self-assessments, and ensures potential noncompliance issues are reported to GTC and supported by the entity
  • Works independently
