Description:

Coeur Mining, Inc. is a well-diversified growing precious metals producer with five operations in North America. Coeur’s wholly owned operations include the Palmarejo silver-gold complex in Mexico, the Silvertip silver-zinc-lead mine in British Columbia, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska, and the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota. In addition, the Company owns the La Preciosa project in Mexico, a silver-gold exploration stage project. Coeur also conducts numerous exploration activities in North and South America. The Coeur Silvertip mine located in British Columbia, just 10 miles south of the Yukon border is seeking an Exploration Geologist 1 to work in a camp-based environment rotating on a two week in/two week out shift rotation.

The Exploration Geologist 1 within the Exploration Department reporting to the Exploration Manager.

Job Duties:

  • Supervise operations at the core logging facility, mentor & advise junior geos & techs;
  • Responsible for accurate core logging and sampling processes and adherence to the company QAQC program;
  • Validation of drill hole data suitable for database creation;
  • Assist with management and execution of drilling programs including drill hole planning, drilling operations and data interpretation. This includes creating drill plans, interpreting results and completing regular inspections of the exploration crews;
  • Perform detailed structural & geological surface & underground mapping & sampling;
  • Interpret and manage geochemical data;
  • Create and communicate results and progress via presentations and written reports to Exploration Manager;
  • Perform pre-operational checks, operate equipment and perform all job functions according to Safe Operating procedures;
  • Accomplish other tasks within his/her area of expertise as requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.Sc. Geology or Geoscience;
  • A minimum of (3) years in exploration geology;
  • Extensive experience in structurally controlled deposits is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of Vulcan, LeapFrog, and Microsoft Office programs;
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGBC;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position;
  • Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce.
